Unlike some developers in Zambia and in the region – we do not use your money to develop our property.  That is why we have raised over $US 60 million dollars from the likes of The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (an agency of the  United States Government),  Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij Voor Ontwikkelingslanden, N.V. (”FMO”), and The Standard Bank of South Africa.  We do require, however, that you show commitment by depositing money in your own bank account at Stanbic Bank (Zambia) Ltd.  Only when we transfer the title to you, and enter into a corresponding Development Agreement, do we conclude the sale, and receive payment for the land.  The independent conveyancing attorney holds any balance of funds payable in terms of the Development Agreement, and only pays us on a phased basis as the house is constructed.

  The Project Financiers include:

Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) , a US Government financial institution that promotes and supports US private business investment in the developing world is providing long term financing that will permit qualifying Zambians to borrow to purchase homes in the Lilayi Estate.

 

Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij Voor Ontwikkelingslanden, N.V. (”FMO”), is the Dutch based Development bank which is providing medium term mezzanine financing for infrastructure development.

 

Stanbic Bank Zambia Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Standard Bank Group of South Africa. Stanbic Bank Zambia will assume responsibility for all loan (i.e. mortgage) servicing requirements under the Project.

 

Standard Bank Properties is part of the Standard Bank of South Africa group. Through Stanbic Bank Zambia it will provide a revolving facility for construction financing to build the houses in the Estate.

 

The United States Agency for International Development,   (USAID) is responsible for managing the US foreign assistance programme and through its DCA facility, is providing certain loan guarantees to Standard Bank Properties and technical assistance to the Project and the Government of Zambia
